Secret Santas can easily turn into the bane of your life. What on earth are you meant to buy your friend for $5/£5?? Last year I outdid myself, if I do say so myself, in the Secret Santa department with a DIY Hot Chocolate Kit. (P.s. little hint, the dollar/pound store is going to be your best friend here..). This is how I did it..
- Buy a cutesy little mug – honestly, this is probably the most expensive part of the whole process. I think I splashed out on this and spent about £2.50. But it did have a reindeer on it, so it’s all good.
- Buy the hot chocolate sticks – I’m not doing a good job of explaining these, but the lollypop sticks that have cubes of chocolate on the end..? Yeah, those. If you don’t want to buy them, they’re fairly easy to make and probably cheaper too, although definitely more time consuming. I think the only reason I bought them last year was because I found some super cheap and I only had a couple days to put the present together (international travel life and all that..).
- Marshmallows! – the most important part! I bought some mini and giant marshmallows and wrapped them up in cellophane, tied them with a ribbon and hey presto, your marshmallows look beautiful!
- Assemble – Put your marshmallow bags in the mug, stick your hot chocolate cube-things in there too. Add some sparkles or decoration, and any other food you might fancy (I think I actually added chocolate chips for good measure..!). Tie some ribbon on to the handle and write your tag. Et voila, you are done.
Obviously I can’t use this gift idea again for my friends this year, so I’ll have to think of something else pretty quickly before my group of friends all meet up!
