If you’ve been around here for a while, you’ll know that me and my skin have a bit of a love-hate relationship. In fact, the past year or so has been particularly rocky for us. However (touch wood), it seems as though my skin is starting to settles. Here’s what I’ve been using to get it to where it is..
Garnier Micellar Water: This has become my go-to for initially taking off my makeup. In fact, I find that it removes my makeup so well that I sometimes don’t even need to actually wash my face. Bon travail, Garnier. I use it with cotton pads, which I find are great and don’t make my skin hurt (sometimes the pulling of wipes do..), which is definitely an added bonus!
Clean & Clear Morning Burst Facial Cleanser: A product that is supposedly just for morning use. However I’m a rebel and use it at night too. I just find that this is a really good, but gentle cleanser for my skin. It makes it feel refreshed and, well, clean.
Clarins Hydra-Quench Gel (since replaced by the Hydra-Essentiel line): I love this for day wear – it’s such a good moisturizer to put underneath my makeup and is hydrating, but not greasy. The new line (according to the nice Clarins lady in Heathrow Airport) is meant to moisturize your skin even more. The Hydra-Quench line only went four layer deep. The Hydra-Essentiel line, however, goes all the way through.
Ponds Dry Skin Cream: Ok, so I bought this last summer while I was traveling because I’d left my usual (Hydra-Quench) moisturizer at home. It cost me $4 and has, quite frankly, saved my skin’s life over the past few months. The acne medication and topicals that I had to use dried my skin out beyond belief, and this moisturizer was the only one that could even start to put a teeny bit of that moisture back in. I used to literally slather it on every night before sleeping and would wake up without a super-dry face. Now that I’m off the medication and only have to use the topicals every now and then, I’ve retired the Pond’s cream, but it’s nice to know it’s still there!
