This summer, I intend to read. Big time. I’ve not got any assignments to complete, and I plan to make the most of the few months freedom from academia (who am I kidding, I love it really). I’ve compiled a little list of books that I want to read over the next 8-10 weeks – three of which I already own, two of which I’ll need to buy.
First up is Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women. I remember first reading this book when I was about 13 and I loved it. I got a new cloth-bound copy for Christmas, but haven’t gotten around to reading it yet. Then comes another classic that I’ve not read for a very long time: Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. I used to love this, and received this beautiful edition as a gift about two years ago. However, I’ve been so busy with my Master’s that I’ve barely even had a chance to touch it. Another book that I’ve had for a while, but barely touched, is The Elephant Vanishes by Haruki Murakumi. I think I’ve read the first short story in this collection, but that’s it. Let’s just say I’m glad that I’ve got a long-haul flight coming up soon – I’ll definitely be reading on that!
Now for the books that I’ll need to buy: Claire Mackintosh’s I Let You Go, and Lisa See’s The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane. Mackintosh’s book has been raved about for a fair old while now, and the blurb for See’s novel really caught my eye.
What books are you reading at the moment? What books do you want to read? Let me know below, and be sure to follow me on GoodReads (I’m only just getting started, so don’t judge me!!). If you’re new, be sure to click the follow button if you’re liking what you’re reading. If you’ve been around for a while, thank you!
