I was going to call this “The ‘I’ve Moved to California & This Is The Makeup That Doesn’t Fall Off My Oil Slick of a Face’ Routine” but I just didn’t think it was all that catchy. But seriously, here’s the stuff I’ve been popping on my face over the past few weeks that doesn’t fall off in the Californian heat.
Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer in Finland: I’ve spoken about this product multiple times, and find myself continually coming back to it. It provides enough coverage for my skin without being even remotely weighty on the skin, perfect for these 106F days!
Becca Ultimate Coverage Concealing Creme in Praline: A thick, heavy duty (but moisturizing) concealer that doesn’t clog pores, but covers just about anything. The coverage of this stuff is insane and is saving my butt now that my acne is making an unwelcome comeback.
Bourjois Radiance Reveal Concealer in Ivory: My absolute go-to for disguising those pesky dark circles. A concealer with damn good coverage that genuinely brightens my complexion, but doesn’t cake under the eyes.
Collection Sheer Loose Powder in 1 Barely There: I find that loose powders are best for my face and this Collection one adds a little extra coverage. I pop it primarily over my T-Zone to keep those oils at bay.
Collection Eyebrow Kit in Blonde: Powder products seem to suit my brows far more than pencils and gels. I find that I get far more control with it, and with this brow palette I can tailor the color to suit my brow needs.
Rimmel Brow This Way Brow Gel in 004 Clear: Just a clear brow gel that sets the shape and color in place.
Rimmel Scultpting Palette in 002 Coral Glow: If I’m being totally honest, I only use this palette for the contour shade in the middle – I’ve harped on about it for months and months, now! It’s the perfect cool-toned, pale brown that I need to put some shape into my moonface.
Too Faced Beach Bunny Bronzer: Literally the only bronzer I’ve been reaching for over the past few weeks (though a Becca one arrived in the mail the other day, so there may be some competition soon!). I swirl the Real Techniques Blush Brush around the four stripes of color and blend it over the top of my cheekbones, down to the contour, up and over my forehead, and dust a little over my nose and chin. Basically everywhere. It creates a natural, healthy looking glow to my skin.
No. 7 Stay Perfect Amazing Eyes Pencil in Brown: There’s no way on earth that I’m putting extra stuff on my eyelids during this kind of heat. While I still love my eyeshadows, I’ve turned to this super smooth eye pencil. I use it on my top waterline, to give my eyes some extra definition. Occasionally, if I’m really pushing the boat out, I put a thin line on my upper lash line and smudge it out with my pinkie finger…
Bourjois Volume Glamour Ultra Black Mascara in 61 Ultra Black: Ok, but when am I not going on about this mascara? Literally my favorite mascara to ever exist, but I can’t buy it in the US, so stock up like heck when I’m in the UK.
Korres Lip Butter in Jasmine: My lips are loving the Korres Lip Butters at the moment. For everyday use I reach for the sheer pale pink/nude color, Jasmine, but on days where I want a little more, I dip into my sheer hot pink Quince color.
