Today I thought I’d talk you through some of my favorite things – not just from the past month, but generally, across the entire year. It’s a bit of a long one, so grab a mug of tea, maybe a biccie or two, and get comfy!
Lush Daddy-O Shampoo: As a little blondie (natural, might I add), finding a shampoo that keeps it blonde, strengthens my fine strands of hair, and keeps it moisturized without making my hair greasy is a big deal. Lush killed it with their Daddy-O shampoo which has the most amazing parma-violet scent to it. I use it every 2-3 days and have found that my hair is in fantastic condition. Buy it here.
Maple Holistics Tea Tree Oil Shampoo: I’m so glad to have found this Tea Tree Shampoo. Usually my hair will have the biggest issues with a shampoo change, but it’s been loving this beauty. The scent is super invigorating, and leaves my scalp feeling so refreshed (Tea Tree shampoos are great for treating dandruff too!). What makes this shampoo even better is the fact that it’s American-manufactured, all-natural, and cruelty-free! Buy it here.
Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser: Soothing and nourishing, this cleanser is unlike any I’ve ever used before. I love to use this to do my first cleanse in the evening (it removes my minimal make up like a charm!), as well as first thing in the morning. It leaves my skin squeaky clean, without leaving it dry and dehydrated, like some cleansers can. Buy it here.
Glossier BalmDotCom: The most moisturizing balm I’ve ever tried. Ever. Once you try it, you won’t go back. I love using the Original scent/color for traveling (especially great for plane journeys when my elbows get all lovely and dry…), the Coconut scent to pretend I’m in the tropics, and the Birthday Cake scent to add a subtle shimmer to my lil lips. Buy a single BalmDotCom here, or a trio of them here.
Burt’s Bees Brightening Daily Facial Cleanser: This has honestly made such a difference over the past three months or so that I’ve been using it. My skin is genuinely brighter, more even, and just looking good if I do say so myself (watch me get the breakout of all breakouts now…). Buy it here.
Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Overnight Hydrating Mask: Perfect for those of you who need some hydration. Though I strive to drink as much water as I can, sometimes my skin doesn’t always get the memo. I put a decent layer of this on every night before bed, really letting it sink in overnight. This bad boy definitely gives my skin a bit of a glow without making me look greasy. Buy it here.
REN Evercalm Ultra Comforting Rescue Mask: An actual holy grail. Soothing and moisturizing in equal parts! I use a light layer of this 1-2 times a week, and literally let it sit for as long as humanly possible. Buy it here.
Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch: I’ve been harping on about this product for the better part of four months now, and I will continue to talk about it for the next gazillion years, to be honest. It’s just such a good base for my makeup, keeping my concealer in place all day. Buy it here.
Becca Ultimate Coverage Concealing Creme (Praline): Potentially the highest coverage concealer I’ve ever owned. Perfect for covering big blemishes and redness too. Buy it here.
Bourjois Radiance Reveal Concealer (Ivory): Literally does what it says on the tin. Brightens the areas of my face that need brightening (for me, that’s definitely the under-eye area, and a little bit on my chin and forehead), evening out my skin tone without looking cake-y and clog-y. Buy it here.
Bourjois Volume Glamour Ultra Black Mascara: A beautifully lengthening, volumizing black mascara. I can’t say too much more about this, mainly because I’ve been chatting about it literally for the past year. I love it. Buy it here.
ASOS Parallel Lines Shirt: Basically the only shirt I wear. Perfect for formal and informal occasions, it’s also potentially the most flattering shape of shirt to ever exist. Buy it here.
The Little Book of Hygge: My favorite book of the year, that really got me thinking about what I can do/what inspiration I can take from the Danes to make myself a little happier. Super hoping I can get hold of the sequel soon. Buy it here.
Chasing Coral Documentary (Netflix): I recently mentioned that I had the pleasure of seeing this screened and a Q&A with Dr. Ruth Gates. This is such a humbling documentary, one that really gets you thinking about what we can do to protect a hugely vulnerable ecosystem.
Please Like Me (Hulu): Probably one of the funniest, but most touching TV series I’ve watched all year. This takes some serious issues and talks about them in such a normalizing manner, all while giving you a good laugh at times. There are moments when you want to giggle, moments you want to sob for the characters, and moments of sheer disbelief. Give it a watch if you get the chance.
